Saint Michael

The beginning of autumn takes place during the four weeks of the Michaelmas season. Since the 9th century people have been celebrating the 29th of September as Archangel Michael's Day. Children love to hear the numerous legends about St. Michael. They teachus how we can strengthen courage in our hearts. One of these stories tells about St. George, St. Michael's helper on earth, who - armed with lance and armor - defeates the dragon and thus the forces of darkness.

In autumn, when we tend to turn inward and make ourselves comfortable at home, the time of knight stories and legends begins. They aim to strengthen and encourage us. After Michaelmas, St. Martin's Day follows at the beginning of November, which reminds us of the knight's generosity and compassion. With Ostheimer knight figures, children can re-enact all of these stories and experience them deeply.
